During the operation, personnel spotted a suspicious motorcycle rider approaching from the Nepal side towards Indian territory. The rider was intercepted and subjected to a thorough search. The search revealed 15.85 grams of smack (heroin) concealed on his person. The suspect was immediately apprehended on the spot.

The arrested individual has been identified as Pradeep Kumar, aged 35, son of Ramesh Chandra. He is a resident of Village Madhvanagar, Post Badhni, Police Station Dhebrua, District Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh.

During preliminary interrogation, Pradeep Kumar disclosed a crucial piece of intelligence about the drug supply chain. He told investigators that he had procured the heroin from an unidentified individual at Bela Chauraha in Balrampur district and was transporting it to another person in Madhvanagar in Siddharthnagar district.

This disclosure has opened a wider line of investigation. Police are now actively searching for both the supplier at Bela Chauraha, Balrampur and the intended recipient in Madhvanagar — suggesting that Pradeep Kumar was operating as a courier in a larger organised network, not acting alone. Authorities believe the network likely has cross-border links given the India-Nepal border proximity of the arrest location.

After completing all necessary legal formalities at the site, the SSB handed over both the arrested accused Pradeep Kumar and the seized motorcycle to Itwa Police Station, Siddharthnagar for further legal proceedings. A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The investigation is now being led by Itwa Police, with SSB providing support and intelligence. Authorities are pursuing leads to identify and arrest both the supplier from whom Pradeep Kumar collected the heroin in Balrampur, and the intended recipient in Madhvanagar — in a bid to dismantle the entire network behind this consignment.
